Helping Students Stay Safe as They Gain Independence
University life brings new experiences, new independence and new environments. For many students, it may also mean living away from home for the first time, travelling alone, attending social events, using public transport late at night and navigating unfamiliar situations.
Artemis Self Defence provides practical, evidence-informed self defence and personal safety workshops designed specifically for university students.
Our approach goes far beyond teaching people how to fight.
We focus on situational awareness, early recognition of risk, personal boundaries, decision-making, avoidance, escape and practical physical skills that can be used when prevention has failed.
Designed for real situations
We don't teach complicated martial arts techniques that require years of practice.
Students are introduced to straightforward principles and physical skills that can be practised safely during the session and remembered afterwards.
We also discuss the stages that can occur before a physical confrontation, because recognising a developing problem early can provide far more options than waiting until an assault has begun.

Situational awareness and recognising changes in your environment
Identifying concerning behaviour and boundary testing
Understanding personal space and maintaining a safer distance
Using confident verbal and physical boundaries

Learn how to protect yourself in bars, clubs, and social settings, including how to recognise and reduce the risk of drink spiking, unwanted attention, and predatory behaviour.
